Sexton doesn’t come out of the guitar-strummer tradition of James Taylor and Pete Seeger, however; he’s the heir of blue-eyed-soul-shouters such as Joe Cocker and Bill Medley. So it’s no surprise that his album, “Black Sheep,” is more impressive for its singing than its writing. –Geoffrey Himes
